Hakki Africa Limited Expands to the Coast with New Mombasa Branch
Hakki Africa opened its Mombasa branch for electric TukTuk and taxi car financing, and held the grand opening at Amal Plaza, Nyali on 1 October 2026.

Since commencing operations in Kenya in 2020, Hakki Africa Limited has established itself as a trusted financial partner to more than 5,000 Kenyans, providing logbook loans, taxi car financing and personal car financing designed to help the everyday mwananchi unlock their full economic potential.
On 1 September, 2026, the company began operations at its newest branch in Mombasa, which will focus primarily on electric TukTuk financing and taxi car financing. In support of this expansion, Hakki Africa has partnered with Rhinggo, a leading manufacturer of electric TukTuks, as part of a shared commitment to increasing the uptake of clean, reliable and affordable transport while empowering the people of Mombasa economically. Rhinggo operates a local assembly plant, approximately 30 battery swap stations and seven service centres across the coastal region. This kind of infrastructure will enable our customers to operate dependably and with minimal downtime.

Kenya’s TukTuk sector is currently valued at an estimated KES 10 billion and is projected to grow steadily in the coming years. With the current rise of fuel costs, financing an electric TukTuk offers customers a sense of relief. The operating costs are reduced by up to 65%, leaving operators with more disposable income, faster loan repayment and a clearer path to long-term financial growth. Customers in Mombasa will benefit from low deposits, competitive interest rates and flexible repayment periods, together with the assurance of working with a financial institution that is genuinely invested in their economic progress.
The Mombasa branch is located at Amal Plaza, Links Road, Nyali. The official grand opening took place at the same venue on 1 October, 2026 and was attended by our Country Manager Ms. Anna Aoki, Business Expansion Manager Mr. Collins Maina, Rhinggo’s CEO and representatives, representatives from: the Online Taxi and TukTuk associations, Car & General, Bolt, Regent Auto Valuers, Talons, Market Response LTD, clients, partner garages, among others.

In her address, Country Manager Ms. Anna Aoki outlined Hakki Africa’s three commitments to the coast. The first is ownership: the company’s purpose remains to build fair, transparent paths for drivers and riders to own the vehicles they depend on. The second is partnership: Hakki brings the financing, while OEMs, hailing platforms, service providers, SACCOs and dealers each play their part, so that every rider can own a vehicle. The third is a local team that knows Mombasa and its customers. Ms. Aoki stressed that Hakki Africa is here to stay and will grow with the coast, serving customers well for many years to come.

Business Expansion Manager Mr. Collins Maina addressed the drivers present, saying the branch was opened for the hardworking operators who keep Mombasa moving. He noted that vehicle ownership has long felt out of reach for many, and that Hakki Africa’s arrival in Mombasa is meant to change that. Mr. Maina explained that the launch theme, “The Road to Opportunity Starts Here,” is not a slogan but a starting point, and that Hakki Africa’s role is to help every driver turn their next trip into something that they can truly own.

Representatives of the TukTuk and online taxi drivers’ associations welcomed the new branch and asked for transparency and honesty from Hakki Africa. They want to feel that the company stands with them financially and understands the current state of Kenya’s economy. Hakki Africa affirmed its commitment to these expectations, reinforcing its promise to be a trusted financial partner to the people of Mombasa.
Partners in attendance also took the opportunity to introduce their services, highlighting the range of support available to drivers across the coast.
